Cavallo Point: Eat, Drink, Hike, Bike, Rest and Relax

The Bay Area’s award-winning Cavallo Point is a A LEED gold-certified lodge with a lot to offer it’s guest—aside from it’s stunning views of San Francisco and Golden Gate Bridge.

This well-appointed destination, which was also awarded the Travel & Leisure 2013 Global Vision Award for Sustainability, offers an especially unique combination of nature, nurture, culture and adventure. Situated in Sausalito, the resort and spa is close to Golden Gate National Parks, Muir Woods, Angel Island and Wilbur Hot Springs.

Activities

Hikers can take guided tours of the Golden Gate Bridge or Cavallo Point where they’ll learn the history of Fort Baker. Food-focused adventurers can explore nearby San Francisco and choose from a number of culinary walking tours, including the San Francisco Gourmet Chocolate Tour. And of course, some of the world’s best wine can be found nearby in Napa Valley, just a short drive away.

San Francisco’s embarcadero is also a short boat ride away. For $45 each way, water taxis take you to the Ferry Building where the local food vendors have set up a wide variety of artisan selections including Cowgirl Creameries Artisan Cheese Shop, Hog Island Oysters and the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant where you can sample wines by the taste, glass or bottle.

Relaxation

Cavallo Point strives to provide an environment in which guests can achieve total relaxation, and finding peace and tranquillity is certainly not hard here. Morning yoga is complimentary, and the Healing Arts Center & Spa, surrounded by calming eucalyptus and pine, combines integrative medicine with innovative spa treatments that soothe. Nearby Wilbur Hot Springs is the ultimate spot for natural relaxation. Established in 1865, the springs consist of an 1,800 acre private nature preserve that’s been a sanctuary for healing for over 140 years.
