These Five Purchases Will Get You Ready for Golf Season
Spring has arrived and for many of us that means a return to the great game of golf. When you take your bag out of the garage and start putting your gear together, though, you might realize some of your equipment is in need of an upgrade. In such a case, here are the top finds that GoodLife Report recommends you buy to start the golf season off right.
1. FootJoy WeatherSof Glove ($12.00) - The life of a golf glove is not a long one. If the glove in your bag is in its Golden Years, throw it out and start the season with a new FootJoy's WeatherSof Glove. Crafted with such features as a palm patch and thumb made of Cabretta leather and a 3-Directional tab elastic closure, it's both durable and very comfortable. Everyone has a different preference when it comes to a glove, though, so try it out and see how it feels before buying a few for your season.
2. TaylorMade R11 Driver ($399.99) - If you are serious about your game and in the market for a new driver, TayorMade's R11 driver is being touted as one of the hottest new clubs. You can adjust the loft, face angle and CG location of the club to find your perfect configuration. It even hypes up to 100 yards of side-to-side trajectory change and 1,000 RPM of backspin change, making for long and powerful shots. If your driving doesn't improve after this purchase, maybe your money would be better spent on some lessons.
3. myGolfstats iPhone App ($2.99) - No need to keep track of that tiny pencil anymore—this iPhone tool, which keeps a detailed record of your score, has rendered it obsolete. The myGolfstats App can also track several different categories of statistics, allowing you to break down the strengths and weaknesses of your game. For an additional fee, it will even calculate your official USGA handicap.
4. The Covert Cooler ($19.95) - Being outside in nature on a beautiful day is the best thing about golf. Being able to have a beer during your round is a close second. A well-placed cooler is crucial, especially if the course doesn't have a drink cart or if said cart never seems to be around when you need it. The Covert Cooler is soft-sided and designed to fit in the shoe pocket of your golf bag. The zipper on the cooler runs parallel to the one on your bag, preventing the exposure of the cooler to course officials. It holds up to nine cans, so don’t hold out on your companions—share the cool beverages with the rest of your foursome.
5. Nike 2011 Lunar Control Golf Shoes ($190.00) - The Lunar Control is a lightweight golf shoe with a sleek, modern look that still provides a classic feel. The combination of waterproof full-grain leather and springy Lunarlon cushioning at work in this model ensures that your feet stay dry and comfortable. It is sure to be one of the most popular of Nike Golf's offerings for the upcoming season and your best bet if you are in need of a new pair of shoes.
